Have you set your goals for 2020 yet? To be effective, your goals must be in writing. The very fact of writing your goals down increases your likelihood of achieving them by 1000%.

In every study, the quality of goal orientation seems to be associated with high levels of success and achievement.

Here is my goal setting tool focusing on 6 areas:

Health

How much do you want to weigh?

What energy level, emotional level, body fat level

Exercise, diet, food supplements

Sleep

Money

Net worth

Income

Investments

Charitable contributions

Job, career business you want to have

Relationship

With self, self respect

With significant other, kids, relatives,

business associates, friends,

date night

Time Management

Career, work/life balance

Vacations you want to take

Office hours

Leave work at work, don’t bring home

i.e. no e-mail after 6:00

Higher Power

Do you believe in God or higher power, have religious beliefs, things that are greater than me? What do you do to nurture your spiritual wellbeing?

Self Improvement

What do I do for personal development, improvement, continuing education? Just 30 min a day add up to over 180 hours a year.

SMART Goals:

S – specific, significant, stretching

M – measurable, meaningful, motivational

A – agreed upon, attainable, achievable, acceptable, action-oriented

R – realistic, relevant, reasonable, rewarding, results-oriented

T – time-based, time-bound, timely, tangible, trackable

Definitions provided by Project Smart.

What new habits do I need to develop to accomplish these goals? What old habits, stories that keep me from achieving my goals do I need to drop?

What do I need to do in 30 days, 60 days, 90 days to achieve these goals?

  • Develop strategies (what) & tactics (how)
  • Decide who will do it: • Do It Yourself • Get Help Doing It • Get It Done For You • Don’t Do It

I hope this is helpful, would love to hear from you. Feel free to share this blog with anyone who might benefit from it.
